Our Beliefs

The Bible

We believe that the Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is the only authoritative, sufficient, infallible Word of God. It has been verbally inspired and is without error in the original manuscripts. We hold to a normal, literal interpretation of Scripture.

God

We believe in one God existing in three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). He is holy, incapable of error, sovereign, perfectly loving, and the Creator of all things.

Jesus Christ

We believe in the deity and virgin birth of Christ, in His sinless life, in the death and shed blood of Christ on the cross, in His bodily resurrection, and in the personal, bodily return of Christ before His millennial reign on earth.

Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts men of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He regenerates sinners and places them into the body of Christ. He also comforts, indwells, illuminates, guides, equips, and empowers believers for Christ-like living and service. Every Christian is gifted by the Holy Spirit for the purpose of edifying the church and doing the work of the ministry.

Mankind

We believe that all mankind has been created by God in His image. All human beings are sinners by nature and by choice and are apart from God and under His wrath. Apart from God’s gracious intervention, man is without help or hope.

Salvation

We believe in a single way of salvation through one’s faith alone, God’s grace alone, and in Christ’s payment alone. The forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life is a demonstration of God’s love and is available to all those who turn from the sin and trust in Jesus’ atoning death and victorious resurrection. Once a person accepts Christ as Lord and Savior they cannot lose their salvation and they permanently receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

Christian Living

We believe that those who have accepted God’s amazing work of grace in their life, will live a life reflective of that grace. True Christians should live a life that is separate from sin and set apart to God. We are commanded to love God with all we are and to sacrificially love those around us. We are to study and obey the Bible, live out our faith, and share the truth with others.

Church

We believe in the autonomy of the local church and view the local church as the only ordained New Testament institution. We believe the church is made up of committed, baptized believers and should be pastor-led and congregationally-run. Church should be a place where people grow in their faith and are encouraged to share that faith with others.

Ordinances

We believe in the ordinances of Baptism (by immersion) and Communion by obedient believers.

Historic Baptist Distinctives

We identify with a rich heritage of those who have held to the following scripturally derived principles: biblical authority, autonomy of the local church, priesthood of the believer, two ordinances, individual soul liberty, saved and baptized church membership, two church offices, and separation of church and state.
